Chris Duhon is Sinking His Own Ship
Chris Duhon missing the shootaround Sunday-and exacerbating the situation by mocking the punishment doled out by coach Jim Boylan — was only the latest recent example of troubling conduct by Bulls players. In just the last week, Tyrus Thomas skipped a practice without informing anyone (he was suspended for two games), the team followed up an inspired victory over Cleveland with an embarrassing performance the next night at Boston and several players were caught laughing on the bench in the final seconds of a loss at Detroit on Sunday night.
With so many people believing his 25-38 team is spiraling out of control, general manager John Paxson was in full damage-control mode Monday. He met privately with Duhon and addressed the team before practice at the Berto Center. He then met with the media after practice to state publicly what he expects of his players the rest of the season. ‘We talked it out,’ Paxson said. ‘Obviously, when things go badly, they go badly. I’m disappointed in what happened in the last couple of weeks, but I have to look at it (as) I’ve dealt with it the way I feel is right, and we’ll move on from there.
