Richard Jefferson Considering a Change of Scenery

Since Jason Kidd’s departure, Richard Jefferson has taken on more ‘ownership’ of the team, as coach Lawrence Frank puts it, and seems content to stick it out, come what may. The question is, why? Why does Jefferson want to stay here and be part of a long-term solution in Jersey and possibly Brooklyn, rather than look for the quick-fix trade to a contender? Jefferson relishes the idea of spending his entire career with one team, a notion Kidd could not relate to. But more important, Jefferson recognizes a key distinction between himself and Kidd. Their age. Kidd turns 35 a week from Sunday. Jefferson is only 27. Click here for more from the Newark Star Ledger.
