Pat Riley Leaves Miami Heat for NCAA Scouting Mission
Miami Heat coach Pat Riley will miss the Heat’s next two games to continue to scout prospects at the NCAA Tournament for the NBA draft.
Assistant coach Ron Rothstein guided the team through Friday morning’s shootaround in advance of Friday night’s game against the Washington Wizards. Rothstein said he would also coach Saturday in Charlotte against the Bobcats.
Riley left the team after Wednesday’s loss at Toronto to attend NCAA Tournament games. He had planned to visit regionals in Omaha, Neb., and Washington, D.C., during the tournament’s first round.
”I’m in for the double-header,” said Rothstein, who also filled in Friday against Orlando when Riley left to attend conference tournaments. [Miami Herald]
