Insurance to Cover Stephon Marbury’s Injury

Once Marbury misses 41 consecutive games due to his season-ending ankle surgery, insurance will pay 80% of the rest of his salary.

In Marbury’s case, insurance will kick in for the team’s final six games.

Marbury earns approximately $180,000 per game, meaning the Knicks will save roughly $850,000, which is chump change to Dolan.

After Marbury had surgery, Isiah Thomas barred him from attending home games until two weeks ago, when Thomas began being criticized for the decision.

Marbury now sits on the bench during home games but doesn’t travel to road games. [NY Daily News]
