Byron Scott Officially Signs Contract Extension

The last thing Hornets Coach Byron Scott wanted was for his message to grow stale, his voice to be tuned out by a young team whose championship aspirations ended in a seven-game semifinals defeat to the San Antonio Spurs.

So while the opportunity was there, he said, to sign an extension in New Orleans longer than two years, he opted to go short to keep his message fresh, mindful of the fact that coaches such as the Spurs’ Gregg Popovich and Utah’s Jerry Sloan have managed to keep their players’ attention over the course of many seasons.

Scott officially re-signed Wednesday with the Hornets. [News Orleans Times-Picayune]
