Howard Schultz Drops Lawsuit; Sonics Not Returning
There will be no last-minute legal hook shot to bring back the Sonics. No courtroom dramatics between Howard Schultz and Clay Bennett. No further "I’m a man possessed" e-mail revelations or David Stern subpoenas.
Schultz, the former Sonics chairman, withdrew his lawsuit against Bennett’s Professional Basketball Club on Friday, thus ending the last possibility of returning the NBA franchise to Seattle.
Schultz filed a motion for voluntary dismissal of the case with U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman and notified members of his former ownership group, the Basketball Club of Seattle, that the legal action was being terminated.
