Michael Beasley’s Defense to Put Him on Bench
A few months ago the Heat didn’t envision Chris Quinn and Mark Blount as its opening night starters at point guard and center. But the way things stand now they’d likely be the starters.
It seems Michael Beasley’s defense isn’t good enough for the Heat to start him at power forward and move Udonis Haslem to center. Or at least that’s what coach Erik Spoelstra seemed to say Wednesday when he said Beasley has a “long way to go defensively.”
That doesn’t mean the Heat wouldn’t experiment with Beasley starting, Haslem at center and Blount on the bench. But considering Blount is solid in the Heat’s defensive rotations it appears he’s on track to remain the starter.
