Chris Duhon to Be Named Captain of Knicks
It might not be the worst idea in the world, but Mike D’Antoni is still certain to ruffle some feathers by naming Chris Duhon captain of the Knicks. Not only is Duhon the most recent arrival to New York, but he’s playing the contested point guard position. While Stephon Marbury may have given up hope of taking the starting spot, naming Duhon the captain may still be construed as a slap in the face. If nothing else, it’s a statement that he’ll be seeing the majority of the minutes at the point.
Chris Duhon, the starting point guard, feels playing the role of a captain is part of his Knicks New York Knicks destiny, calling himself the team’s "general." It is likely Duhon will be named a captain soon after the season begins, even though he’s newest to the club.
"I think that’s the job of the point guard," Duhon told The Post. "The point guard is the coach on the floor, the quarterback. You put everybody in their right position, understanding what the coaches want. Whether labeled captain or not, when we’re on the court, that’s my team." – New York Post
Them’s strong words, Chris. Or are they? Let us know what you think in the comment box. Is Chris Duhon simply outlining a point guard’s purpose or is he taking responsibility for leading the team this season?
