Sasha Vujacic: There’s a Championship Waiting for Us
"Yes, it’s awfully early to be talking about anything but putting one foot in front of the other right now," he said. "It’s just so hard to project what a month can bring, what an NBA season of 82 games can bring. I think we’re going to be good, I think we’re going to be a good team. But to project our fortunes, it is too early."
Jackson was responding to a question about a statement made by backup guard Sasha Vujacic before the Lakers’ 20-point rout of the Portland Trail Blazers in the season opener Tuesday at Staples Center. When someone asked Vujacic if the only satisfactory result for the Lakers this season would be a victory in the NBA Finals, he said, "It has to be. There’s no secret about it. We have the potential. The talent we have in this team is amazing. The way we’re playing together, it’s even better. I think if we keep improving, nothing is going to get in our way.
"There’s a championship waiting for us. We’ve got to grab it."
