Jason Richardson Traded to Phoenix Suns for Boris Diaw, Raja Bell
For two weeks, Suns fans squirmed as they watched an unfamiliar offensive style yield unacceptable results and wondered how the team would get better.
All the while, the Suns were just as uneasy, pondering if a second gargantuan trade in the past nine months would improve the team. In a trade aimed to make them the team that breaks from the Western Conference pack that is chasing the Los Angeles Lakers, the Suns acquired dynamic shooting guard Jason Richardson from the Charlotte Bobcats in a Wednesday trade that also brings second-year forward Jared Dudley and a 2010 second-round draft choice in exchange for shooting guard Raja Bell, forward Boris Diaw and rookie point guard Sean Singletary.
The deal, pending physicals, brings a new dimension to the Suns’ shooting-guard position. Richardson can hit 3-pointers, create his own shot and post up players, similar to the play of Joe Johnson when he manned that spot for the Suns four seasons ago.
