Patrick Ewing Jr. Getting Closer to Joining Knicks
Patrick Ewing Jr. scored 15 points and grabbed two rebounds playing 30:24 in his NBA Development League debut Monday with the Reno (Nev.) Bighorns, the Knicks’ D-league affiliate.
Yet, that doesn’t mean he’s a lock to return to the team that waived him at the end of training camp, as he’s essentially a free agent, drafted from the league’s "available player pool."
"No promises," he said of rejoining the Knicks in a conference call Tuesday. "Maybe wishful thinking."
Ewing is playing for head coach Jay Humphries, a former Mike D’Antoni assistant in Phoenix who runs D’Antoni’s offense. But, he said, if an NBA team other than the Knicks wants to sign him, he’s there.
"I’d be a fool to turn [down] one team just to wait for another one," he said.
