Chauncey Billups: I Could Have Made a Championship Run with Pistons
"Oh yeah," Billups said Thursday. "I definitely feel like had we stayed the same all year, we had the pieces in place to make another run. I felt last year had I not been hurt with the hamstring that we could have won the championship last year."
Pistons president Joe Dumars obviously didn’t feel as confident in that, which is why when the Pistons take the court at the Pepsi Center tonight, Billups will be wearing Nuggets’ powder blue and former Nugget Allen Iverson will be wearing Billups’ old Pistons jersey No. 1.
"To say it’s going to be weird or emotional, man, that’s an understatement," said Antonio McDyess, who was part of that trade back on Nov. 3 but re-signed with the Pistons after the Nuggets bought out his contract. "Just looking at him in that type of uniform still seems weird to me. But I know he’s going to be pumped and up for the game.
