Damon Stoudamire to Join Memphis Grizzlies’ Coaching Staff

The Grizzlies are expected to add two assistant coaches in a move that could happen as soon as today. Former Philadelphia assistant Henry Bibby and former Griz point guard Damon Stoudamire will join Lionel Hollins’ staff, pending final approval by owner Michael Heisley. After swinging and missing on Maurice Cheeks and Tony Brown as possible assistant coaches, Hollins turned to Bibby and Stoudamire, neither of whom currently works in the NBA. Since December, Stoudamire has worked as director of player development for the Rice Owls men’s basketball team in Houston. Stoudamire last played for the San Antonio Spurs after he reached a buyout agreement with the Griz on Feb. 3, 2008. Bibby’s last NBA job was as an assistant coach to Cheeks during the 2007-08 season.
