Shaq and Kobe Relive Great Memories
Today marks the return of perhaps the greatest duo in NBA history.
Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant will be teammates again for the Western Conference at tonight’s All-Star Game, five years after the end of a great partnership on the court and a better soap opera off it.
"It’ll be like old times. It’ll be great memories," said O’Neal, now with the Phoenix Suns after a stint in Miami. "Kobe’s playing at a very high level right now. It’ll be like old times."
"We just don’t look at things like that in this game," said Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who will coach the Western Conference. "Things went the way they were supposed to go, and life goes on as far as that goes."
The saga of Shaq and Kobe has been picked apart for the better part of a decade now, so we’ll discuss it no further here. What I will say is that I’ll be looking out for the duo to hook up on an alley-oop or two tonight, and with Phil Jackson running the show there’s bound to be a two-man play to make it happen.
