NBA GMs Rate Kobe Bryant over LeBron James

Bryant had something to say about it last Sunday in Cleveland, where his Los Angeles Lakers beat the Cavaliers 101-91 to sweep the season series. That came the same week Bryant scored a modern Madison Square Garden record of 61 points against the New York Knicks. Two nights later, James scored 52 and came within a rebound of his 21st triple-double.

But what do the NBA cognoscenti think? USA TODAY posed the question to the league’s general managers, who asked that their responses remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the topic. Eleven thought it was too close to call or the topic too hot and abstained.

Of the 19 GMs left, 12 gave the nod to Bryant, seven to James.
