George Karl: We’re Aiming to Set Team Record for Wins

What is the best way to get the Nuggets’ players not to focus so intently on a Northwest Division race headed for a photo finish, yet still keep a premium on wins? Go for a record.

And Nuggets coach George Karl has a grand one on the radar.

He wants these Nuggets to finish with the most wins in the franchise’s NBA history, plain and simple. Well, maybe not so simple.

The franchise record for wins in the NBA is 54, achieved by the 1987-88 Nuggets. The 1974-75 ABA Nuggets hold the team mark with 65.

The Nuggets, who lost Sunday night at Sacramento, have 40 victories, meaning they would have to go 15-3 to end the season with 55 wins.
