Knicks to Bring in Chris Mullin?
Chris Mullin may have moved closer to joining his old boss, Donnie Walsh, next season after the the Golden State Warriors announced Monday that they would not renew Mullin’s contract.
Mullin, the former St. John’s star, had been the Warriors’ executive VP of basketball operations for the past five seasons. His contract expires on June 30.
Walsh, the Knicks’ president, likely will wait until July or even August before making a significant front office hire. Mullin, former 76ers GM Billy King and former Hawks GM Billy Knight are all highly regarded candidates with ties to Walsh. A person familiar with the Knicks’ thinking said that Mullin is the favorite to land the director of basketball operations job.
When contacted last night, Walsh reiterated that he "would not be thinking of the front office until after the draft" on June 26.
