Eric Gordon and DeMar DeRozan to Compete in Sprite Slam Dunk-In

Eric Gordon and DeMar DeRozan to Compete in Sprite Slam Dunk-In
If you’re as big a fan of the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest as I am, you’ll be hungry as hell for news of the participants in next month’s festivities.  While the names of the four high-flyers haven’t yet been revealed, it was announced today that there’ll be a slight twist in the selection process.  This year, Eric Gordon of the LA Clippers and DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors will go head-to-head in the inaugural Sprite All-Star Slam Dunk-In.

For those who don’t know (and that’s everyone at this point), the Dunk-In is a slam-off in which Gordon and DeRozan will each be given two dunks, with a two-minute limit for each.  The contest will take place at halftime of the Rookie Challenge on All-Star Friday, and the winner will be determined by a fan vote.  The player to receive the most votes via text message and NBA.com will advance to the main event, the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, on All-Star Saturday.

For the record, the other three contestants will be announced this coming Monday, January 18th.  As always, check out HoopsVibe for the latest news on the dunk contest and all the festivities of All-Star Weekend 2010.

So, who do you think will come out on top in the Dunk-In?  Could the stocky Eric Gordon pull something out of his bag of tricks or will the long, lean DeMar DeRozan live up to the hype and advance to the big show?  Check out the clips of DeRozan and Gordon below, then let us know what you think by dropping a comment.
