Doug Moe: Carmelo Anthony Is Best Nugget Ever

On Thursday, shortly after Anthony was elected as a starter in the NBA All-Star Game for the second time, I asked the 71-year-old retired coach to name the best player in Nuggets history.

Moe’s initial response was a deliberate sigh. He didn’t want to slight anybody. But, after a long pause, the truth came out.

"I’d have to say Melo," Moe said. "His talent is going to win more games than anybody else. With him, I think the Nuggets are going to have more 50-win seasons than with any other player. And that’s not a knock against any of those players."

Moe saluted Issel, English, Thompson and Kiki Vandeweghe, who combined to score an amazing 60,000 points for Denver.

"But when it’s all said and done, Melo is going to be the best," Moe said.
