Shaq Gets New Show On TruTV
A lot of people are less than fond of Shaq as a halftime host on TNT. And while breaking down X's and O's may not be his forte, Shaq's best work in front of the camera comes when he is allowed to be his silly self.
HoopsVibe Very Quick Call: It can't be worse than the Aaron Carter video for "That's How I Beat Shaq".
Shaq's new show is called "Upload With Shaquille O'Neal". The premise of the show is that Shaq will comment on and poke fun on various clips from the internet, as well as creating his own skits and parodies of the videos. It does sound a little bit less than original, but if this guy could carry a movie about a 5,000 year old genie that comes out of a boom box (Kazaam) and he presumably has advertisers line up, maybe it won't be terrible.
Has there ever been an athlete that has done as much "side work" as Shaquille O'Neal? Maybe MJ?
Amongst many other things, Shaq had a platinum album as a rapper (Shaq Diesel), has acted in various bit parts on TV (Curb Your Enthusiasm, My Wife And Kids) and had his own video game (Shaq Fu). If you think the new Shaq TV show sounds bad, check out the plot line of Shaq Fu and be glad it wasn't remade into a TV show- "Shaquille O'Neal wonders in to a kung fu dojo while heading to a charity basketball game in Tokyo, Japan. After speaking with a Kung Fu master, he stumbles into another dimension and must rescue a young boy from an evil mummy."
Speaking of MJ, does anyone remember his flop of a video game called Michael Jordan: Chaos In The Windy City?
Nobody is perfect, even MJ, and who knows, maybe Shaq's show will actually be good.
