Jamison Signs With Lakers
Antawn Jamison signs with the Los Angeles Lakers.
HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Now this is a great building block.
Lakers continue to make off-season moves. This time it's the acquisition of Antawn Jamison. This NBA veteran has averaged 19 points per game and almost 8 rebounds per game. He's also an extremely intelligent player known for his high basketball IQ.
Jamison came into the league in 1998 and is a 14-year veteran of the league and his skills show no sign of diminishing. He averaged 17 points per game last year and 7 rebounds. At 6' 9" and 235 lbs, Jamison will likely fill the 3 slot and could both take some of the offensive load off of Kobe and provide quality defense.
Nash and Kobe have already weighed in that they are excited about the most recent Laker acquisition. Jamison signed only a one-year deal. It looks more and more like the Lakers are very serious about making a run at the ring next year. They've held on to Pau and Bynum, while still grabbing two quality players in Nash and Jamison. This combined with World Peace and Kobe is a quality squad, but are the good enough to get out of the Western Conference?
This means they'd still have to get past the Spurs and Thunder. The Spurs have really made no major additions this off-season, but still somehow find a way to win. They weren't expected to finish the regular season with the best record the last two years, but they continue to find a way to win. Nash and Jamison will definitely help the Lakers, but are they quicker or stronger than the Thunder? LA is hoping this combination can get the job done, but my money's still on Harden, Westbrook, and Durant.
