Phil Jackson Says LeBron "Potentially" Better Than MJ
Phil Jackson thinks LeBron can be better than MJ if he stays healthy.
HoopsVibe Very Quick Call: Last week it was "Sir Charles", this week it's the "Zen Master".
In the last couple weeks or even months it seems like a lot of Jordan's peers have jumped on the Lebron side of the LeBron vs MJ argument. Just a week ago Charles Barkley piled on with the following quote in an article writen by esteemed collegue Matt Formica on this site.
"I do think he can be better than Michael," Barkley said. "I thought I would never compare somebody to Michael Jordan. But this guy, Lebron James, he does everything well. Michael did everything well. Lebron James is just bigger, stronger, faster. That's the only difference."
Today, none other than Jordan's former coach Phil Jackson weighed in and shared his thoughts during an interview on an ESPN radio station based out of Chicago.
“He's got all the physical attributes. I think we all question the prepping that went into LeBron," said Jackson. "His defense was shaky when he was a younger player and finding his way through that direction. He is a player that can play four positions. Except for perhaps the center spot, which he hasn't given a shot at yet, he can play those other four positions quite well. This is unique; Michael could play three and was very good at all three of those. But as a power player that LeBron can become, I think he has an opportunity to explore and advance some of the status that he has already gained."
Is all the talk about Jordan being such a jerk off of the court finally revealing itself through the comments of his former peers? We all saw Jordan's Hall of Fame acceptance speech where he took more than a few pot shots at vanquished foes, in a display that some labeled classless.
Even when Kobe was young and winning titles, I don't remember hear as much "anti-Jordan" talk. But, maybe that just speaks more towards the incredibly rare set of skills that LBJ has, Jordan bashing aside.
