Dwyane Wade suspended one game without pay
The NBA has suspended Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade one game without pay for kicking the Charlotte Bobcats' Ramon Sessions in the groin Thursday night.
Hoopsvibe's quick call: The incident was strange and very uncharacteristic of Wade.
The incident with Wade and Sessions occurred with just over eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. Wade was dribbling the ball up the court and ran into Sessions, who was called for a blocking foul on the play. As Wade got tangled up with Sessions during the foul, he flared his leg up into the groin area of Sessions, causing Sessions to drop to the floor.
When you watch the video you can see that it was much more of a "flail" than a "kick." Plus, Wade has never been the type of player to take a blatant cheap shot. It looks more like he got caught up in the moment and made a mistake by reacting to the contact. He didn't really hit Sessions that hard; then again, you don't really need a lot of contact to that area to do some damage.
The Heat ended up beating the Bobcats 105-92.
"I'm far from being a dirty player, [plus] my intent was never 2 kick Ramon Sessions. I just reacted to the contact that I got from him," Wade tweeted. "More than anything, I think of my boys watchin me be4 retaliating 2ward any player."
Wade will be suspended for Friday night's game against the Pistons.
