Antawn Jamison Unhappy With Being Benched By Lakers
Antawn Jamison could be looking to get out of LA.
HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Jamison goes from 17 PPG last season and a 33 point game on Nov. 30th to not even getting in a game all of last week.
Antawn Jamison just sat out his fifth straight game for the Lakers. This is a player that was seeing 30-plus minutes earlier in the season and now he's not even getting into the game for weeks on end. It should also be noted Antawn Jamison is a 15-year veteran of the NBA and is still a baller. He understands how things work, but I bet he didn't see playing on a mediocre team at this point in his career and riding the bench as the outcome of this season.
"The only reason I came here was they said I was going to play and to win a championship." Championships don't appear to be in the Lakers near future, but you never know. Jamison signed for the league veteran minimum of $1.4 million and appeared to be worth every dime when he dropped 33 points against Denver on November 30th. That means in just a few short weeks we went from a 30 point offensive threat to not even getting in the game. Ouch.
That's got to hurt. It should also be noted that Jamison averaged 17 PPG last season. He literally went from an key offensive producer one season to be dropped by the Lakers that suck the next. Maybe it wouldn't sting so bad for the NBA veteran if he saw his spot being filled by talented players that were leading Los Angeles to a ring. Unfortunately, he's being replaced by guys that can't seem to get the job done.
