We put together a list of the top 10 rappers that can actually ball. The criteria for our ranking is loosely based off of their basketball resume, the competition they've played against, and our impression if we saw them ball in person. Some are big time rappers and hip hop stars, while others are a little less known, but all are ballers.
10. Rick Ross
He's big and in a neighborhood game his weight alone will carve out a lot of space. Ross definitely isn't a great athlete, but he can rebound and has surprisingly good touch for a big man.
I know you're picturing that little kid from back in the day, but Romeo grew up and developed a jumper and some handles along the way.
Wale's been seen playing around at a lot of the celebrity games and has a descent all-around game. He's primarily a slasher that likes to get to the hole.
Nelly was an amazing high school athlete. He was a star baseball and basketball player with speed on the court and a great first step.
6. The Game
Jayceon Terrell Taylor aka The Game is no stranger to the court. He is a regular at charity basketball events and we had the opportunity to see him play first hand at the 2012 Snoop Dogg 3x3 competition in Los Angeles last season. He dominated the court. Standing 6'5" and solid as a rock, the game is both strong and has a quality handle and outside shot. He is a versatile small forward. He's also played against legit D-League competition and held his own.
5. Chris Brown
This one was a shock to us. We didn't think Chris had the skills. He is a ton of talk on the court, but backs it up. We saw him play first hand against good competition in the Snoop Dogg 3x3 competition and he was definitely the best player on the court. He has a quick first step and surprisingly good pull-up jumper. He can definitely ball.
4. J. Cole
Jcole was a legit high school baller and nearly may St. John's squad as a walk-on. He is a true baller with a solid handle, outside shot, and slashing capabilities. He is the real deal on the court and off signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label.
3. 2 Chainz
Tauheed Epps aka 2 Chains was a solid D1 recruit coming out of high school and ended up playing a year of ball at Alabama State. He has the game of a Penny Hardaway standing 6'5" and playing the point.
Stalley is a lean guard with a mean jumper and some smooth handles to the hole. Stalley was a solid high school recruit and played a little D1 ball in college.
Cam'ron was a high school star athlete. He grew up balling in NYC and was a Top 25 high school player recruited by schools like Georgetown and the University of Miami. Cam'ron grew up balling against legends like Stephon Marbury and holding his own. Cam'ron is the real deal on the court.
