Kobe Claims He Would Smash LeBron 1-On-1 But Admits One NBA Player Could Beat Him.
Kobe says he would beat LeBron 1-on-1 easy, but there is someone else that could take him.
HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Hard to picture Kobe admitting anyone that has ever played basketball could beat him, but he did.
Kobe Bryant recently sat down with ESPN's Chris Palmer to discuss balling, the Lakers, and legacy. Kobe is currently having an amazing year averaging 29.9 PPG to lead the league. His Lakers are struggling under the weight of preseason expectations, but the Black Mamba hasn't slowed down. He's played in 1,420 NBA games and still averages 39 minutes a game and 47 percent from the field.
When asked who he would most like to play one-on-one. Kobe responded, "Jordan, no question."
Then when he was asked if he could take LeBron one-on-one Kobe had this to say, "Me, no question. As far as one-on-one, I'm the best to ever do it. LeBron is a terrific all-around, five-on-five basketball player who's an all-time great. But I'd get him."
This is the normal deserved bravado we would expect from Kobe, but then when he was asked who could beat Kobe he had to admit, "Kevin Durant is the guy that would give me the most trouble. With his length and ability to use the dribble, he’d be tough."
Kobe admitting anyone can beat him one-on-one is a first. Up until this point, Kobe still hasn't admitted Jordan could even beat him. When asked about MJ he'd respond with, "He would win some and I would win some in a seven-game series. It would probably come down to the last few shots." Now that's more like the Kobe we know and love.
