HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Can't we have a little fun? What's with everything being so serious these days.
Everyone was anticipating the New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics rematch. This has not only become a heated battle of Eastern Conference contenders. It is also a grudge match between Kevin Garnett and Carmelo Anthony.
In there last matchup these two both got technical fouls and further altercations after the game in the locker rooms and by the Celtics' bus. Reportedly Garnett said Anthony's wife, Lala Vasquez, tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios. This set Melo off on his tirade.
Much attention has been paid to this incident and Garnett's trash talking. He is legendary for saying some truly offensive things. In the past he has reportedly talked smack about players families, kids, wives, even relatives with cancer. Some see it as part of the game, while others believe there is a line you still should not cross or expect to have someone pop you in the nose.
After the Honey Nut Cheerios incident the TD Garden cracked down and all Honey Nut Cheerios boxes and signage were confiscated and not allowed into the Knicks vs. Celtics game. The Garden reportedly confiscated 150 items. That's a lot of Honey Nut Cheerios. I just hope all that yummy honey nut deliciousness went to a good cause.
