Trade Rumor: Kevin Garnett To Clippers
With the trade deadline just over two weeks away, get ready to watch the rumor mill spin out of control.
HoopsVibe Very Quick Call: The latest trade rumor involving Kevin Garnett is one that would send him from Boston to the LA Clippers in exchange for DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe.
Wouldn't that be a solid deal for an aging Celtics squad? Doc Rivers doesn't think so. Or, maybe he does.
Rivers called the rumor "Silly" and then blamed the media for manufacturing the potential trade.
"All from [the media]," said Rivers of trade rumors. "None from us. Really. I would like to say that. Sometimes I like them, sometimes, some of the stuff that happens is just silly. It really is. When I wake up in the morning and I hear a trade rumor that I haven't heard in my office, that's silly, and that's what happens. "I heard one report -- I honestly did -- that me, Chauncey, Kevin and Paul had dinner. And I was like, 'I wish I would have known about it. That would have been terrific, because I would have made them pay and I could have had a free dinner. But it's just silly what goes on. And I don't think it's honestly [the media]. I think someone can sit behind a computer and write something. The problem is, now you guys have to actually report it, which you shouldn't do. But you do, and it becomes an issue."
So even if Doc is publicly saying this deal is "silly", doesn't that really mean it isn't silly and therefore has at least been considered? If he said nothing at all and just ignored it, it would obviously die down much faster. But by addressing it, it actually gives it a certain level of credibility.
It's like when my five year old has to go to the bathroom. She starts wiggling around doing the "Ants in Your Pants Dance" and it's obvious to everyone she has to use the bathroom. So we play the "Opposite Game" and I say, "Whatever you do, don't use the bathroom." Immediately she goes and uses the bathroom.
So does Doc Rivers just really have to use the bathroom? I think it's obvious the way he is squirming.
A reasonable person could make the assumption his bladder is full.
