So Allen Iverson's problems are continuing; and now his mansion has officially been foreclosed on.
Hoopsvibe's quick call: Iverson never seemed to have any of the right "answers" off the court.
TMZ reported earlier this week that Iverson's Atlanta mansion was sold off at a foreclosure auction on Tuesday.
According to TMZ, Iverson, nicknamed "The Answer", "defaulted on a $1.2 million mortgage which sent the $4.5 million home into foreclosure." Iverson tried fighting the auction off, but in the end, couldn't salvage the property.
And this isn't the only issue AI has been having. Within the last week, an Atlanta judge signed off on the divorce from his wife, Tawanna, the mother of the couple's five children. Not only did Tawanna get legal and physical custody of the kids (Iverson allegedly has some visitation rights) but in the divorce decree, the judge wrote (and I'm paraphrasing here) that Iverson has essentially been the worst parent ever.
Courtesy of TMZ ... According to the judge, Iverson:
-"does not know how to manage the children"
-"has refused to attend to an obvious and serious alcohol problem, which has caused him to do inappropriate things in the presence of the children while impaired"
-"has left the children alone without supervision, has left his young daughers in a hotel room with men who are unknown to the mother"
And then there's the story that Iverson's only opportunity to return to basketball has been with the NBA's Development League, an offer he officially denied last week.
I can understand why Iverson would turn down the offer, as I would imagine it's pretty difficult to go play in the NBDL when he's a four-time NBA scoring champion who ranks sixth ALL-TIME on the career scoring list (at 26.7 points per game). And his 29.7 ppg career playoff average lands him in the number two spot all time, behind only His Airness, Michael Jordan.
But still ... With all of the turmoil surrounding Iverson these days, getting back on the hardwood, even if it's with the D-League, might be good for him.
After all, could it get any worse?
