Mark Cuban Boos Derek Fisher And Declares His Hate For His Former Player.
Mark Cuban boos Derek Fisher and declares his hate for his former player.
HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: As much as I like Fisher, it looks like he pulled a punk move on Mark Cuban and the Mavs.
It all started when point guard Derek Fisher returned to the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder just 70 days after requesting a release from his contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
Fisher had requested to be released from his Dallas contract because he claimed he had family issues to attend to and to rest and rehab his knee. Apparently, Fisher is a wiz at both healing and fixing family issues because he hoped right back in the NBA on a championship contender.
Cuban claims he picked up Fisher earlier in the year because he was trying to help the veteran point guard out and that now he feels betrayed.
“My personality is to try to help somebody, particularly somebody that I thought one thing about, even if it didn’t turn out to be that way,” Cuban said. “So I was just trying to be nice and help. Usually when you help somebody, you expect at least some semblance of loyalty back. When you don’t get it, then it’s more disappointing.
Fisher didn't take the bait from Cuban and responded to his criticism with nothing but class.
“I love Mark and I have a tremendous amount of respect for what he’s done and does in terms of this team,” Fisher said. “There’s no question about how passionate he is for his team. If it was my team and I wanted to win, I would want as many players that I felt like could help me.
