(Sports Network) - Baron Davis poured in 37 points, including seven in overtime, as the New Orleans Hornets defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 106-99, at the Wachovia Center Wednesday.

Davis was 13-of-26 from the floor, including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc. The Hornets were 13-of-30 as a team from three-point range, while the Sixers made just 4-of-17 three-point attempts.

Steve Smith chipped in 16 points for New Orleans, which has won four of its first five games this season. David Wesley had 12 points and Darrell Armstrong added 11 for the Hornets.

The Hornets scored the first eight points of the extra session to take control. Smith scored inside, before Armstrong nailed a three-pointer to make it 94-89. New Orleans then got the ball back and Smith drained a three-point shot to give the Hornets a 97-89 advantage with 2:38 remaining in overtime.

After Iverson converted 1-of-2 free throws, Davis drilled a three-pointer to extend the lead to 100-90 with 1:31 left. Davis later sank four foul shots in the final 40 seconds to seal it.
