(Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics suffered their second straight loss Wednesday, falling to the Detroit Pistons, 96-88, at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Paul Pierce and Vin Baker each dropped 20 points for the Celtics, who have split their first four games of the season. Pierce shot 8-of-19 from the field and also had 10 assists and seven rebounds. Raef LaFrentz finished with 12 points and seven rebounds off the Boston bench and rookie Marcus Banks contributed 11 points. The Celtics shot 47 percent from the field and hit 16-of-17 free throws, but committed 21 turnovers and made only 2-of-13 three-point attempts. Forward Jumaine Jones saw his first action as a Celtic Wednesday after missing the first three games with a hamstring injury. He scored four points in 18 minutes. Boston resumes play Friday when it takes on the Nets at the FleetCenter in a rematch of last year's second-round playoff series, which New Jersey swept. BOS |
