(Sports Network) - Jamal Mashburn scored a season-high 26 points and Baron Davis added 23 and 13 assists, leading the Hornets to a 120-98 rout of the Washington Wizards on Wednesday at New Orleans Arena.
Darrell Armstrong had 18 points and Steve Smith netted 14 off the bench for the Hornets, who have won three straight and four of their last five games. Jamaal Magloire and David West both had 11 points in the win.
Davis' 13 assists tied a season high and the 120 points scored by the team was a season-best.
The Hornets broke the game open when they began the third quarter by shooting 12-for-16. They scored on 11 straight possessions during a 21-4 run and took a commanding 81-61 lead.
New Orleans eventually carried a 91-69 cushion into the final quarter. Both clubs then netted 29 points in the fourth quarter, but the Hornets were ahead by a comfortable margin and collected the 22-point victory.
New Orleans, which will now hit the road for a pair of games, has won 11 of its 13 games played on Wednesdays this season.
The Hornets have won three straight at home and are 17-11 in the Big Easy this season.
New Orleans has won the last three meetings with Washington, including six straight as the host.
The Hornets will return to action on Saturday against the New Jersey Nets.NO
