=== Washington Wizards Team Report - March 22 ===
(Sports Network) - Washington dropped a 101-81 decision to the streaking Miami Heat at the MCI Center. Steve Blake poured in a career-high 21 points off the bench, including a 5- of-7 effort from beyond the arc, for the Wizards, who saw their brief two-game winning streak come to an end. Larry Hughes, who was activated from the injured list prior to the game, struggled in the contest, finishing with just eight points on 3-of-14 shooting for Washington. Brendan Haywood, Etan Thomas and Jerry Stackhouse each netted 11 points for the Wizards, who have dropped eight of their last 10. Washington had a two-game win streak halted. It marked just the fourth contest all season that Gilbert Arenas, Hughes and Stackhouse played together. Stackhouse has missed a good portion of the season due to knee problems, while Arenas has been struggling with an abdominal problem. Kwame Brown, coming off consecutive games in which he combined to tally 57 points and 30 rebounds, mustered just six points and seven boards. Washington turned the ball over 21 times, leading to 22 points for the Heat. The Wizards managed to hit just 39 percent from the field in the contest. The Wizards have just one day to gather themselves, as they return to the court Tuesday against the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center. Washington's next five games are on the road. WAS |
