Cavs obtain Pavlovic from Charlotte

Jun 23rd, 2004
Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday acquired forward Sasha Pavlovic from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for a future first-round draft choice.

Pavlovic was selected by the Bobcats in Tuesday's expansion draft after the Utah Jazz left the 20-year old unprotected.

The 6'7" Pavlovic, a native of Serbia and Montenegro, was chosen by Utah with the 19th overall pick in last year's draft and averaged 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds during his rookie campaign.

"We look at Sasha as a low-risk, high-reward addition to our team," said Cavaliers general manager Jim Paxson. "He has already proven he can play at the NBA level and, at only 20 years old, he could potentially develop into a very good player."

The future pick that will be sent to Charlotte was obtained by Cleveland from Toronto in a 2002 trade that sent Lamond Murray to the Raptors.
