=== Portland Trail Blazers Team Report - January 2 ===
(Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers return to action this evening against the scorching hot Phoenix Suns at America West Arena. Portland comes into tonight's contest on a winning note after Shareef Abdur-Rahim finished with 26 points and nine rebounds to lead the Blazers to a 97-88 win over Golden State on Saturday at the Rose Garden. Damon Stoudamire -- who hit 4-of-4 three-pointers -- scored 19 points for the Trail Blazers, who snapped their two-game losing streak. Ruben Patterson contributed 19 points and nine boards. Sebastian Telfair notched career highs with 14 points and five rebounds for Portland, which overcome a 14-point, second-half deficit. On the injury front both Zach Randolph and Theo Ratliff missed last night's contest. Randolph, who is averaging 20.4 points and 10.6 rebounds, has been hampered with right knee tendinitis but should play tonight, while Theo Ratliff is nursing an injured shoulder. He is questionable for tonight's affair. Portland, which will wrap up a two-game road trip against the LA Clippers on Wednesday, has dropped six of its last nine on the road and is 6-9 away from home this season. The Blazers lost to the Suns earlier in the season and has dropped three of the last four meetings. Portland has also dropped six of its last eight in Phoenix. POR |
