Celtics need their Lucky Charms
|
(Sports Network) - Pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars and green clovers
are exactly what the Boston Celtics need right now if they want that eighth
and final playoff spot in the East.
Even with a dreadful 30-42 record the Celtics remain just three games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the eighth seed in the conference. Boston certainly has luck on its side, having lost six of their last nine games to remain just 1 1/2 games behind Chicago for ninth place. Boston plays the Bulls on Saturday night from the United Center. The Celtics, though, ended a two-game slide on Wednesday with a 123-98 win over New York. MVP candidate Paul Pierce and Wally Szczerbiak both scored 22 points in the triumph at Madison Square Garden. With Philadelphia caught in its current funk and Chicago losing site on the prize, now couldn't be a better time for the Celtics to rise to the occasion. Standing in the way of that plan is a nagging upcoming April schedule which includes games against Chicago, Washington, the 76ers, Indiana, New Jersey, the Cavaliers and Miami. Meanwhile, Celtics rookie Orien Greene was suspended 10 games this week for his actions early Monday morning. Greene was arrested for failing to stop for a police officer and traveling at speeds of more than 90 mph. In 70 games this season, Greene is averaging 2.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists over 14.7 minutes per game. BOS |
