Knicks, Celtics meet in Beantown
(Sports Network) - Atlantic Division rivals battle tonight, as the New York Knicks try to stop a three-game losing streak when they visit the Boston Celtics at TD Banknorth Garden.
New York had its losing streak extended to three after Wednesday's 107-89 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center. The Knicks played miserably with 18 turnovers and shot 43.8 percent from the field. They also trailed by 19 points after the first quarter.
Jamal Crawford and Steve Francis both had 19 points to lead New York, while Stephon Marbury ended with 18 points. Eddy Curry scored 14 points and Channing Frye added 12 in a losing cause.
The Celtics, meanwhile, had a three-game winning streak come to an end with Wednesday's 92-83 setback against the Charlotte Bobcats.
Paul Pierce led Boston with a game-high 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Ryan Gomes netted 12 points for the Celtics. Al Jefferson returned from a two- week absence for an emergency appendectomy and scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds against Charlotte.
Celtics guard Delonte West missed Wednesday's game with a sprained left big toe and is uncertain for Friday's game against New York. He is averaging 7.7 points per game this season.
Boston defeated the Knicks on Saturday at Madison Square Garden and has won four of five and eight of the last 10 meetings in the series.BOS NYK
