Garnett, Timberwolves visit Seattle

Mar 23rd, 2007
(Sports Network) - Northwest Division rivals meet tonight, as the Seattle SuperSonics welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves to KeyArena.

Minnesota is 2 1/2 games behind the Clippers for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference, while the SuperSonics are 5 1/2 games out of the race.

This is the third meeting of the season between the clubs. The teams split the first two contests.

Minnesota has lost four straight after winning its last three at Seattle. The SuperSonics have won two of the last three contests in the series.

The Timberwolves play the finale of a five-game road trip. They are 1-3 on the swing. Rookie Randy Foye scored 24 points and dished out four assists to lead Minnesota over the Sacramento Kings, 95-89, at ARCO Arena.

All-Star Kevin Garnett scored 17 points, pulled down 18 rebounds and had four blocks in the win over the Kings for Minnesota, which snapped an 11-game road losing streak and a three-game slide overall. Ricky Davis contributed 14 points and seven assists, while Mike James ended with 12 points in the victory.

Minnesota is just 10-25 on the road this season. The Timberwolves return home to host Portland on Sunday and the SuperSonics on Tuesday at KeyArena.

Seattle plays the second of a three-game homestand. Gilbert Arenas scored 42 points and banked in the winning scoop shot at the buzzer, as the Washington Wizards picked up a 108-106 victory over the SuperSonics on Wednesday at KeyArena.

Chris Wilcox collected 27 points and 22 rebounds in the loss to the Wizards for Seattle, which has dropped six of its last seven games overall. Rashard Lewis ended with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Earl Watson scored 15 in defeat.

The SuperSonics played Washington without All-Star guard and leading scorer Ray Allen, who has pain from bone spurs in his left ankle. He is doubtful for tonight's contest and could miss the remainder of the season.

Seattle is 18-16 at home this season. The SuperSonics are scheduled to host Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.
