Lakers love! Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss finally engaged
After more than a dozen years of dating, literally, Phil Jackson proposed to Lakers heiress, Jeanie Buss.
Hoopsvibe’s quick call: If Jackson is good at anything, it’s putting rings on fingers.
Jeanie Buss is currently the Executive Vice President of the Los Angeles Lakers. She is also the daughter of Lakers owner Jerry Buss and sister to current team executive Jim Buss. Jeanie and the Zen Master Phil Jackson, former Hall of Fame player and coach, have been dating since 1999. And finally, on Christmas Day 2012, Jackson proposed and the couple are set to wed.
According to sources, the couple has yet to set a date for the wedding.
But Buss confirmed her engagement to Jackson on Twitter by tweeting, "Twitter family — Phil finally gave me that ring I wanted!" Buss also told ESPN that she is "beyond happy" with her recent engagement.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Buss stated in a 2011 interview with Forbes that she "wanted to get married" but Phil wasn’t necessarily on the same page then. With regard to Phil’s marriage aspirations at the time, "He just doesn’t want to get married again; it’s not that he doesn’t want to marry me. It took me a while to understand that, and I’m fine with it now."
Well Jeanie is clearly strong at the power of persuasion, because look what a difference over a year has made. No wonder she’s such a good EVP. Clearly, Jeanie Buss gets the job done.
This will be the third marriage for Jackson, who also has five children.
A special Hoopsvibe congratulations to the basketball power duo!
