J.R. Smith’s awesome yearbook quote

A yearbook photo of Knicks guard J.R. Smith surfaced this week, but it’s Smith’s yearbook quote, not his picture, that’s caught everyone’s attention.

Hoopsvibe’s quick call:  Smith has clearly always been a gamer.

No offense if anyone out there is extremely proud of their yearbook quote, but you would be hard pressed to find a better one than J.R. Smith’s.

Smith’s high school yearbook photo went viral over the internet this week (see photo below) and let’s be honest, how great is his senior quote?  “Get chicks or die trying.”  That’s amazing.  I don’t care who you are, this has to bring a smile to your face.  It definitely brought one to mine.

Now we can’t truly see the entire quote because the picture is a bit cut off, but it’s fair to assume the rest of the message.  And no matter what you fill in the blanks with, it’s still pretty clear that Smith has always been working on his all around game for a while now.

Smith just won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2012-13 season, after having averaged 18.1 points, 2.7 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game off the bench for New York during the regular season.  He’s also been a solid contributor in the first two games of the playoffs against the Celtics.  Smith is averaging 17 points per game in the postseason.

So Smith has definitely been a baller on the court; and judging by his yearbook picture, has always been crushing it off.
