Rumor: Lamar and Khloe to Europe?

it’s ya boy @RealLamarOdom !" Odom tweeted to Gasol. "My dude really want 2 talk 2 u! Really thinking about going 2 play in Europe after this season!"

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Who knows Lamar Odom’s real motivation?

The two-time world champion, superstar sixth-man, and reality TV King is thinking of plying his trade in Europe if the lockout cancels part or all of the NBA season.

So Odom tweeted his L.A. Lakers’ teammate Pau Gasol to ask his advice. No phone call. No e-mail. No text. No Skype. No face-book message.

Such information and manoeuvring is intentional and deliberate when your part of the multi-million dollar brand known as the Kardashians.

Odom wanted you, me, and the public to know about him possibly going to Europe.

And this represents a larger issue for the Lakers, who lost in the second round of the playoffs to the world champion Dallas Mavericks.

They’re trying to get back atop the NBA, while Odom seems pre-occupied with his show and selling stuff.

Something has to give. It may end with the Lakers trading their versatile forward or not picking up the last year of his contract in 2013.

Marriage And NBA Players: Just Don’t Do It

With the endlessly publicized marriage of reality skanklet Kim Kardashian to NBA Kris “Who’s He?” Humphries taking place this weekend, it reminded me of several other ill-fated NBA player marriages.

NBA lets Nets attend Kris and Kim’s wedding

A team official says the Nets have been granted permission to attend the reality star's marriage to forward Kris Humphries on Saturday in California.General manager and other members of the Nets' basketball operations department are expected to attend the ceremony of their free agent forward, the official told The Associated Press on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the guest list was to remain private. With players and their teams not supposed to be in contact during the lockout, they must check with the league about events where they would be together.

HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: The New Jersey Nets can attend The Wedding.

Much to the relief of the Nets organization, they have permission from league head office to go to forward Kris Humphries and celebrity Kim Kardashian's wedding.

They, of course, had to ask permission because the lockout bans teams from talking to players. Special allowances for special circumstances can be made. And apparently The Wedding of the summer is special enough.

Good for the Nets. Good for Kris. Good for Kim.

While we're at it, how about the powers that be get to talking about a new Collective Bargaining Agreement? And soon.

I'm pretty sure an NBA season is special to fans.

Most Underrated 1980s NBA Player. Vol.2 Duran Duran

For people who didn’t experience the 1980s - Madonna, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Janet Jackson, U2, Duran Duran, George Michael/Wham, and Metallica ruled the 1980s. It was not until very late in to the decade that we heard about NWA, De La Soul, and LL Cool J. The original Street Fighter videogame was awful, but Nintendo and Super Mario ran the scene. Miami Vice was cool. Indiana Jones, Big, Back to the Future, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and E.T. blew everyone’s minds. Also, director/writer John Hughes was underrated during that era. The fashion was awful with big hair and straight men wearing makeup although the power of the mullet is forever.

Daniel Gibson has beef with LeBron James … again

“After Miami defeated Chicago last week to advance to the NBA Finals, James talked about his decision to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami. ‘I wanted to team up with some guys that would never die down in the moment,’ James said. ‘The opportunity presented itself with this great organization and we made it happen.’ Speaking on The Dugout Sports Show Podcast on Wednesday, Gibson said, ‘The way it’s said, you can’t help but take it personal. … I don’t think great players should feel the need to say this about a team or say that about a team. I think what it all boils down to if you’re great, you go play great, be great and everybody will realize you’re great. And you wouldn’t have to let it be known that everybody else was less great. Great players shouldn’t have to do that. So I feel like it’s kind of an admission. He might have needed some help. He might have needed to go somewhere and find someone who is a little greater so maybe he wouldn’t die down in those moments.’” Link HoopsVibe`s Very Quick Call: It`s cattier than a TMZ fallout between Hollywood socialites. And it's more dramatic than a Shakespeare play. Daniel Gibson has beef with LeBron James. Again. This isn't the first time Mr. Keyshia Cole has jousted with the world`s greatest basketball player. Remember, he took issue with his former friend and teammate following The Decision. Gibson fanned the fire by pronouncing himself the King of Cleveland, which led to a brief twitter war with James. Eventually, cooler heads prevailed. Here`s the question: Does James care? He`s currently the toast of the NBA. He`s playing for a championship. He made the right decision to take his talent to South Beach. Conversely, Gibson is a fringe player. He only makes headlines when feuding with James and because of his wife. Gibson isn't worth a response. Of course, this is the greatest slight of all. --Oly Sandor. Got thoughts? Well, get at HoopsVibe News in the comment box below.

Rumor: Amar’e and Ciara?

Knicks star Amare Stoudemire has set his sights on Grammy-winning singer and model Ciara. New York's hottest sports hero has been spotted dining out with the stunning songbird in recent weeks, and on Monday night, the pair shared dinner at STK with a group of 15, including fellow Knick Carmelo Anthon and his wife, LaLa Vazquez. Link HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call:  It’s nice to know Amar’e Stoudemire’s on-court struggles haven’t impacted his off-court game. Not one bit, in fact. Standing Tall and Talented is no longer with Amber Rose, the model famous for being with Kanye West, and is reportedly wooing Ciara, the R&B singer who many also describe as easy on the eyes. Stoudemire apparently met his newest love interest through LaLa Vasquez, Carmelo Anthony’s wife and the best friend of Ciara. Clearly, Stoudemire and Anthony work well off-court, helping each other with the females. If only they could recreate this chemistry on-court for the inconsistent New York Knicks. Got thoughts? Amar’e and Amber Rose show up LeBron?

LeBron James may have hogged all the glory on the court in last night's Heat-Knicks game, but it was Amare Stoudemire who stole the spotlight from King James at his own party the night before.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Forget LeBron James making his first appearance at Madison Square Gardens since signing with Miami as a free agent. And forget the Heat`s win over the Knicks on Friday evening.

Only one thing matters: the previous night at the club.

Apparently, Knicks’ forward Amar’e Stoudemire made quite the appearance at a New York hotspot on Thursday, showing up James and his entourage.

All eyes were on Stoudemire and new gal pal Amber Rose, who you may remember from her days with rapper/producer Kanye West.

Surprisingly, Stoudemire and James, who played together with Team USA at the Beijing Olympics, didn’t speak or acknowledge each other. In fact, they stayed at opposite ends of the club for the entire night.

Antoine Walker Sued for Sleeping with Man’s Fiancée

Right now life isn't exactly fantastic for Antoine Walker, the NBA's all-time leader in both shimmies and four-pointers attempted. After blowing through a phenomenal amount of dough (he earned over $110 million in his career) and struggling to return to the league, the last thing he wants is to be exposed to more financial liabilities. Unfortunately for 'Toine, that's exactly what happened when a Chicago resident by the name of Kevin Jenkinsfiled a suit claiming that Antoine Walker not only slept with his fiancée but convinced her to kick him out of their residence while Walker waited outside in his Range Rover.

The lady in question is one Johanna Edelberg, whose name last showed up in the papers in 2001 when her roommate committed suicide after the two smoked marijuana in their Manhattan apartment. Both women were then working as plus-size models for NYC's famed Wilhelmina Models agency, and a quick Google search turns up a number of photoshoots featuring the curvy Ms. Edelberg in such a capacity.

Parker, Longoria to Split

On television, Eva Longoria plays a Desperate Housewife. I've never seen the show (for obvious reasons) but I'm told that the women of Wisteria Lane regularly engage in extramarital affairs while their husbands are away. I'm sure that Eva never thought she'd find herself in a similar situation in real life.

But here we are.

Sasha Vujacic Gets Engaged to Maria Sharapova

It seems like only yesterday that we first reported that Maria Sharapova and Sasha Vujacic were dating, and initially few were ready to believe that The Machine, he whose rump is festooned with bench splinters, could have snagged one of the world's most recognizable athletes. As time went on, however, it became increasingly clear that the two were indeed an item, especially when photos started appearing of the pair all coupled up. Read More

La La Vasquez on ‘Melo’s future: ‘let’s just see how this plays out’

"I still live there," she said. "There’s so much speculation out there. We did (the) George Lopez (Show) two days ago, and Melo made it clear: He’s still a Denver Nugget. So no matter what you might hear or speculate, he is a Denver Nugget. He’s been committed to that team and that city for seven years now. You’ve got to cut him a little bit of slack. He hasn’t made a move yet.

"As of now, the plans are to report back to Denver for training camp. So let’s just see how this plays out."

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: La La Vasquez is right. Her husband’s situation with the Denver Nuggets has become comical.

For months, the press, fans, players, and GMs have speculated on where Carmelo Anthony will get traded. It’s a hot topic because the star forward can opt-out of his contract next July and become an unrestricted free agent.

The speculation is endless. One day, Anthony is getting dealt to the New York Knicks. The next day, the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, and/or New Jersey Nets are the frontrunners.

The Knicks and Nets do have two distinct advantages over the competition.

Vasquez, a former MTV host, hails from Brooklyn. Although unlikely to admit it, she’d prefer her husband ends up in the greater New York area, so she can continue her entertainment career and be near family.

This may be what pushes Anthony aways from Denver.

Carmelo Anthony’s wife: ‘New York is a possibility’

Us being in New York is a possibility," LaLa said. "It depends on Melo's career and where it takes him. There's a lot of talk about the Knicks, I mean, there's a lot of teams out there, he's a great player and I think collectively we just need to think about what makes sense for our family. But I would never say that being in New York is not an option. I'd be lying to you if I said that." HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Their interest in the New York Knicks is understandable. LaLa Vasquez and Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony have ties to the east coast. Both were born in Brooklyn. She was raised in New York; he spent his formative years in Baltimore and won an NCAA championship at Syracuse University. So we get it. They’re connected to The Big Apple. Then there’s the culture de jour of the NBA. Today, most superstars want to play in sexy markets for big revenue teams who’ll spend to win. In fact, they believe this is their divine right. Translation: New York, the Knicks, and Madison Square Gardens appeal to Vasquez and Anthony. But ‘Melo has a contract. For 2011. With Denver. And he doesn’t become a free agent for ten months, and then, and only then, will he get to pick his next home. All the chatter is premature. Of course, a trade could happen. Key word: could. The Nuggets – not Anthony or Vasquez – will make this decision. Until the organization that has supported and paid him so handsomely makes this call, Anthony and Vasquez should tone things down. Anthony needs to release a statement saying he won’t discuss the future because he’s focusing on the upcoming season, while Vasquez needs to avoid the press. Not only will the league’s power couple look professional, it will provide a much needed cooling off period for the Nuggets and Knicks to, perhaps, swing a trade. After all, such a trade is complicated. The Nuggets would be cutting ties with their franchise face. The Knicks would have time to find an appropriate mix of assets to offer. Bottom line: the publicity, the 24-hour Carmelo Anthony news cycle, the gossip, the rumors aren’t in anyone’s interest. In fact, it’s only making a migration to the NYC more complicated for Vasquez and Anthony. --Oly Sandor. Got thoughts? Well, get at HoopsVibe News in the comment box below.
