For anyone who did not notice, the entire Miami Heat organization, including Pat Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra, has taken pay cuts because of the dreaded economy. This move had to be done because the Miami Heat is just not making enough money to avoid more layoffs. Most teams around the league have to consider such a thing because of falling revenues. Having people lose more jobs is a terrible addition to the number of unemployment. This is the last thing we need. The players themselves don’t have to worry about pay cuts, but could this be related to Dwyane Wade in anyway?
Not really, but this isn’t good though.
This is just another sign. Once this hit the news, there have been indicators that Wade is most likely leaving Miami. It’s open season for him in 2010. Forget LeBron James. He’s not going anywhere and has said that to coincide with his book signing. Just forget “The Chosen One.” Wade is the real stud to go after. Has anyone been noticing the signs? Someone has to be realizing something.
He buys a new home in Chicago; his hometown. He said that it doesn’t mean anything. Then Wade was on Chicago sports radio show “Waddle and Silvy.” They asked him if Miami doesn’t make the playoffs, would he come to Chicago. He responds with free agency. That probably does not mean anything. Pat Riley doesn’t expect extension talks with Dwayne this season until next summer. That probably does not mean anything either. The Heat roster is a mess especially with the problematic Michael Beasley - can he be anymore lackadaisical? After a sub par rookie season, don’t tell us that the only promising player they have is Mario Chalmers. Beasley, please prove to the fans that you were worthy of being the number 2 pick. Moving on, Jermaine O’Neal, even when healthy, has a lot of mileage and usually can be found battling some kind of nagging injury. Without a healthy Wade, the team is just as good as the Indiana Pacers, which means that the surrounding roster is not good enough to be a contender for awhile. The Heat at full strength is a dangerous team, but they’re not a threat to venture into the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston, Orlando, and Cleveland. With all of that in mind, Wade County and the Miami Heat better not give up on Jermaine O’Neal. This 30 year old man with injury issues better come up big this season. If something happens to O’Neal, may God help them.
What about the money? Miami has the money for Wade. That’s not the issue. The real issue is do they have more than enough to accommodate him with another star such as Chris Bosh or Amar’e Stoudemire?
Most of the signs point to him leaving. He very well could end up in Chicago to pair up with the 2008-2009 Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose who is not a selfish budding superstar player. He would have Joakim Noah, Tyrus Thomas (if he’s still there after this season), Brad Miller, Kirk Hinrich, and James Johnson. John Salmons is planning to opt out.
Word to general managers around the league: Forget LeBron. Just forget him. Go after Dwyane Wade instead. He’s the real prize since he is adamant about testing free agency. And he should. If Miami loses him, it’s an epic loss and their marketability went down the gutter. Thinking further, I wonder if they regret passing up on OJ Mayo…

on 09.24.2009 | I think D Wade will be best pick up in 2010! He already has a championship ring/mvp. I think the best team for wade to go to in 2010 would be the New orleans Hornets! Just imagine C. Paul, D.wade. J. Posey,/J. Wright, D. West and Okafor! Wow thats would be insane! There is no better feeling like knowing your team is one player away. If the hornets could pull that off that would be disastrous for the rest of the league. I could also see Labron in Brooklyn Nets along side devin Harris, Courtney Lee, Brook Lopez and Yi JianLian. on 09.24.2009 | I think Cleveland has shown LeBron that they want him BAD, way more than Miami has shown DWade that they want to keep him. BUT, Miami is the dream job. Be on a great team, in a great city, in a state with no state income tax. Name something bad... LeBron is a better talent, but D Wade has more heart, and I think they have the same electricity on the court... which is what fans want to see. on 09.23.2009 | I cant say I agree with you. Wade is FROM chicago and he works out there in the off season. I think you might be looking into that part way to much. And forget about Lebron? Are you kidding? He’s going to test free agency. He’d be foolish not to. Wade is also 4 years older than Lebron and has had 3 injury riddled seasons in a row before he played out of his mind last season. D-Wade is a great player and a very likeable person, but injuries have been an issue and could pose questions. There’s no doubt he’s in the same league as Kobe and Lebron but to say that GM’s should just forget Lebron; now thats foolish. . |
