NBA All Star 2008-2009 Weekend was wack.

How did it get to this? It’s disgusting to hear people say that it was a great All Star weekend. Are you blind?

It was terrible and easily forgettable. The only thing enjoyable was Kevin Durant showing the rest of the world that he’s reaching “Lebron-Kobe” like untouchable status (even some of us knew way long before) and

They’re dancing to Nas’ "Hero" by the way for you kids listening to the Chris Brown stuff. It’s sad to note that after Shaq did his entertaining entrance, the announcer said that it was time to announce the All Star starters. Sad. Usually Shaq is a starter.

Of course, the weekend in Phoenix was dominated by the Mishandling Misspelling of Amar’e Stoudemire and the Crush of Planet Orange. Is he gone or not? How come the Suns are turning into a turd so quickly? Should they just hold on to Amar’e and build around him? They can’t build around a guy who doesn’t play defense that well. Sometimes he doesn’t even try. He’s no Tim Duncan or Shaq. STAT is a solid number 2 option though, but you do not build around number 2 options. Also, the firing of Terry Porter left a $4 million dollar mark for owner Robert Sarver to eat up. Ouch.

The HORSE game was merely a jump shooting contest. It was something I expected to turn out. Durant won the “My Little Pony” action figure for the blasted thing. I’m surprised they didn’t hand over the GEICO lizard or having KD to hang out with the pissed off cavemen. It would have been a great tie-in if Durant said, “This contest was so easy even a caveman can win it.” Then have the camera cut to a pissed off caveman with his arms crossed shaking his head saying, “You’re fucked up, Kev. That was a Flagrant Foul.”

I’ll pass on the Shooting Stars crap.

I chose Derrick Rose to win the Skills Challenge before it even started and he fulfilled the prophecy. It was cool to see these guys half-ass the event, but then again, it’s not that serious to begin with. Did any of you see Chris Paul get out of his seat after Derrick Rose did that reverse dunk?

The Rookie-Sophomore game was actually more entertaining than the All Star game. People were saying that the Rooks got this because of Greg Oden. Oden just proved that he might be an injury plagued player for years to come. I just found out that he has a bone chip in his left knee. Sam Bowie ver. 2.0?

The three point contest was cool because it actually had a true one on one final. Somebody quick! Do a documentary on the rise of Daequan Cook. It was sad to know that Ben Gordon was never invited despite never shooting below 40% from three point land in his career so far.

The Dunk Contest. Where do I start with this? Color me unimpressed. Howard had one nice dunk from behind the back board. Rudy Fernandez proved that he doesn’t have big hands. Nate Rob displayed a lot of swag, but I’m still pissed off at him robbing Andre Iguodala. The entire contest was a huge letdown. Follow my suggestions on how to save it. I was so disappointed that I had to search the net for this:

These dudes’ dunks are greater than your life. That delayed windmill and that last dunk in the video. OH MY GOD. That was bananas.

And to the actual All Star game…please Lebron. You have all the power and hops in the world, but come out gunning to layups? What’s with this finesse crap? Even Brandon Roy was throwing it down better than you. Chris Paul can definitely keep the game going up and down. He’ll be doing it for years to come and that’s a great thing. Now who’s going to do it for the East? Mo Williams showed me some nice stuff, but I don’t see him as a perennial all star. Devin Harris can’t run the game like Paul or Deron either. So who is it going to be in the future?

Congrats to Shaq and Kobe winning the love connection award though. And here’s to the other stuff that made All Star weekend somewhat entertaining:

I expected more from dunk contest I liked pump dunk and over Howard though-I just like Nate and that’s it. But the rest especially the GAME didn’t impress me. ASW should be entertaining like guys below me wrote before yet I’d like to see mr 720, TFB crew & slamnation 4 exmple + some over 20pts players in 3-point contest and the real defense-ofense game from all stars and that I would’ve called a real entertainment .

GOOD GOD YOUR A DIPSHIT, this years all star game had terrible highlights, they didnt throw an alley oop until the THIRD QUARTER, the reserves this year were absolutely terrible, NONE had hops or sweet dribbling tricks. THE GAME NEEDS VINCE,TMAC AND JASON KIDD TO THROW THE PASSES

THEY NEED TO INCLUDE MORE DUNKERS IN THE DUNK COMP, BRING ON THE TEAM FLIGHT BROTHERS CREW VS NBA PLAYERS??

OVERALL A VERY LAME ALL STAR WEEKEND .

C.Y Ellis said I wouldn’t find another guy wo agreed with me. Simply Average Positive Dude, you see exactly what I saw in the game, Shaq was great, mvp in 10 mins and 46 seconds shows how exciting he is. It was a great weekend, Bill Russell’s piece was great also. .

The weekend is a show, and meant for entertainment. The Dunk contest was great... minus Dwight Howard’s last dunk. If he takes off behind the free throw line, he wins and you don’t pout so much. I’m not sure why your "Horse" expectations were so high. John Legend and "Let it Rock" guy were great shows. As far as the actual game goes, you are right that it isn’t quite the same... but you have to realize that T-Mac and Vinsanity have basically made the All-Star game UNBELIEVABLE for the last 8 years. Shaq’s wicked moves and the high score is EXACTLY how the All-Star game should be - ENTERTAINING. Quit being a negative Nancy. .

Check out those two videos on YouTube and tell me that those games weren’t more exciting than the blowout we watched last night. In 2007 we saw a gang of highlights, and in 2008 we saw a game that wasn’t decided until the final minute. Last night we saw neither.

Put it this way, New Orleans 08’ and Vegas 07’ were terrible. At least this year people got out of their seat during the all star game. I don’t like the mentality some people have. .

I couldn’t disagree more, Good God. The showmanship was top-notch in the dunk contest, but there wasn’t a single effort we hadn’t seen already. Derrick Rose won the Skills Contest by default, posting a time that was nearly four seconds slower than the record. The Shooting Stars competition was as dull as ever, and the three-point contest finished with Kapono and Lewis choking. The game itself, which should have made up for the crappy All-Star Saturday, was completely bereft of highlights, culminating with a horribly contrived co-MVP award. I’d be very surprised if you could find someone else who thought this was an above-average All-Star Weekend. .

Easily the best all star game since 06. The dunk contest was the most advanced we’ve ever seen. The three point shootout actually had a finale, Derrick Rose made the skills contest actually interesting and even the shooting stars was interesting.Been watching all star weknds for 19 years, And this was one of the best in years.Im sure the majority will agrre. .

they didnt even show horse highlghts besides durant shooting one shot and getting that cheap looking trophy. they asked david stern about adding "1 on 1" games and he said they would get too physical. the East was undersized in the allstar game which made the 4th quarter not worth watching. The dunk contest was overhyped to the fullest and i dont think they delivered any memorable dunks. changing into a green outfit wasnt impressive. So i agree. Allstar weekend was weak this year. bring on the playoffs already. .

To Good God, that’s funny. You can’t even finish your sentence. Don’t hate me that All Star weekend was awful.

I’m somewhat amused. Do you have an opinion about the All Star weekend festivities? Please provide some analysis. .
