Oakland, CA (Basketball News) - Baron Davis finished with 33 points and nine assists and Troy Murphy added 19 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 108-100 victory over the New York Knicks at the Arena.
Mickael Pietrus added 17 points for the Warriors, who have won two straight and five of their last six games. Jason Richardson netted 12 points and Mike Dunleavy added 11.
"I’ve enjoyed it a lot it’s been great," said Davis, who came over from New Orleans at the trade deadline. "My teammates have been great."
Stephon Marbury posted 31 points and eight assists for the Knicks, who have dropped three straight and four of their last six games. Maurice Taylor added 17 points, while Jamal Crawford and Tim Thomas each netted 13 points.
Kurt Thomas collected 12 points and 14 boards in the loss.
The game was tied at 44-44 at halftime, but the Warriors outscored New York by nine in the third quarter to take control of the game.
The Knicks trailed, 57-56, after Thomas’ jumper with 8:08 remaining, but Golden State scored nine game’s next 11 points to take an eight-point edge. The Warriors would then take a 76-67 edge into the final quarter.
New York would get within six on a few occasions in the fourth quarter with the last time coming after Thomas’ layup with 27 seconds left. However, Richardson hit a pair of free throws with 23 ticks left to seal the win.
The first quarter was close and the Knicks led 27-23 after one quarter of play. The Warriors fell behind 42-31 midway through the second quarter, but closed the half on a 13-2 burst to even the score at 44-44 at the break.
