Deron Williams or Carlos Boozer? The Chicken or the Egg?

  By Jason Kelly
12.11.2007 - Updated on 12.11.2007

The great debate goes on. Big man or little man? The chicken or the egg? In an excerpt from an online chat (go down to item #3), the question is posed as to whether the “debate” can “finally end” and we can declare Williams more important than Boozer.

The same argument has been around for years. Stockton or Malone? Shaq or Kobe? Who? (The audio is funnier than the transcript). On another level, how about Tim Duncan versus Tony Parker/Manu Ginobli? Or, Steve Nash versus Amare Stoudemire/Shawn Marion?

It is a pretty worthless debate. Without the one guy, the other would not be as productive. The small guy gets assists by passing to a great finisher. The finisher could never create the opportunities without the passer. Not to mention that each guy gets open shots when the defense focuses on the other.

Really, what’s the point? It is a team sport. That is also why there are different skill sets for different positions.

Seems to me that Dwayne Wade makes my point and ends the debate.

Exhibit A:

What happens when you team Shaq up with another great guard while letting Kobe spin his wheels with Kwame Brown.
