Lakers Lose Game 3 By Regnard Raquedan 04.24.2009 - Updated on 04.24.2009
| As the series moved to Utah for Game 3 of the Los Angeles Lakers-Utah Jazz match-up, I knew the complexion of the game would change.
Boy, was I right.
It was a big turnaround for the Lakers: There was no big first quarter explosion, no blistering shooting display, and no victory.
The Lakers lost 88-86 on a jumper by Deron Williams with 2 seconds left in the game. Kobe Bryant clanged a potential game-winning three ball and the Lakers lost the right to talk "sweep" in this series.
Like I said, Game 3 was played in way the Jazz wanted it— defense-oriented, low-scoring, and, well, nasty. The Lakers struggled in the first quarter and mustered only 17 points. In the previous two games, the Lakers scored 30 and 41 points respectively. The Jazz made sure the Lakers never get into an offensive groove and they they were able to slow down Trevor Ariza and Shannon Brown, offensive sparks in the games in Los Angeles.
There were also other issues the Lakers faced: Kobe tried to shoot himself out of the Jazz defense and the result was 24 shots, 5 less than the whole Laker bench. The Jazz are probably pleased with themselves by stifling Kobe and making him shoot 21% from the field. Andrew Bynum never really got a chance to play with the foul trouble again. This is the second time in three games that Bynum had 5 fouls. Perhaps, his playoff inexperience is starting to show.
Last year, the Lakers lost Game 4 of their second round match-up against the Jazz. If the Lakers doesn’t start to shoot well and defend better, the series will be 2-2 when they go back to Los Angeles.

Posted by Sulo: (the NBA fan who wrote the 1st,2nd and including this the 5th comment) on 04.25.2009 | OK not another idiotic lakers fan (not taking the piss out of all lakers fans out there, just this one who should of minded his own business) who thinks he knows it all.To retaliate to the comment posted by "just another lakers fan". Firstly do you realize that before you ingeniously replied to me implying that I should look at my own writing skills before dismissing others. If you had paid attention to my first comment around the 3rd and 4th last line I purposely wrote in my first comment that "Although it seems like I am busting into you I do not claim I could write better..." Clearly it can be seen that I do NOT think i am better then the sports writer. So why in the hell would you reply telling me; (I quote) "You are talking about how bad the columnists writing skills are. You should look at your own...you should think before trying to make someone look unprofessional". Firstly are we on the same page that I am an average basketball fan who like many others here on this site including you are here to read NBA basketball and that the sports writer that wrote this article is being paid to write proper professional articles...because if not then why aren’t any other randoms allowed to write articles on this site. Next time please take a open thought into your own actions before involving yourself into a conversation that included myself and the writer not you! . | Posted by just another lakers fan on 04.24.2009 | Hahahahaha. You are talking about how bad the columnists writing skills are. You should look at your own. While dissing this sports writer you made a few mistakes yourself. For instance, you did not capitalize your I’s. And personally, i (errr, i mean I) do not think that this article is supposed to focus on grammar, but the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Utah Jazz in game 3 of the playoffs. And yes sir, you are welcome for me pointing out your mistakes. Perhaps you should think before trying to make someone look unprofessional by dissing their writing skills. Enjoy the playoffs. . | Posted by the guy who wrote the first comment on 04.24.2009 | joe, do you realize that he gets paid for this. I want to read something that looks and sounds professional not just something that i could write up. . | Posted by on 04.24.2009 | Dude, it’s pretty sad that your sentences are written wrong since you are an article writer on this site. For instance the second last line where it says; "If the Lakers doesn’t start to shoot well and defend..." it should be written: "If the Lakers don’t start to shoot well and defend..." To me it seems like you spent little effort into this article through the lack of sustaining interest and poor grammar. Very disappointing since i am usually pleased to read the daily articles on this site. Although it seems like i am busting into you i do not claim i could write better but it just seems poor and unprofessional. Nevertheless your name does not sound familiar on this site so i understand if it may be your first time. But to "hit the rookie wall" so to speak, on your first article is pretty dodgy.
