Corvallis, OR (Basketball News) - Aleksandar Cuic scored a team-high 14 points to lead the Oregon State Beavers to a slim 66-63 victory over the Portland Pilots in a non-league contest.
J.S. Nash added 11 points for Oregon State (3-2), while Jason Fontenet tallied nine points and dished out six assists in the victory.
Eugene Jeter III poured in a game-high 27 points and distributed six assists for Portland (4-2), while Darren Cooper chipped in 10 points and collected five rebounds in the losing effort.
The Beavers shot 45.2 percent from the floor in the opening frame while holding the Pilots to just 31.8 percent shooting from the field. Oregon State held a 35-24 lead at the break.
Although Portland netted 62.5 percent of its shots from the field in the second stanza, Oregon State was able to hold off the late surge en route to the three-point win.
The Beavers dominated the glass in the contest, outrebounding the Pilots 37-23.
