NBA Game Summary - Chicago at Toronto

03.23.2005

Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - Eddy Curry scored 16 points to lead a balanced attack, and Chicago defeated Toronto, 94-85, at Air Canada Centre.

Ben Gordon tallied 13 points off the bench, while Antonio Davis had 12 for the Bulls, who won their third straight game and eighth in a row over Toronto. Othella Harrington chipped in 11 points in the win, and Tyson Chandler grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points.

Jalen Rose poured in a game-high 30 points with nine rebounds for the Raptors, who lost for the third time in four games. Rose finished the night 12-of-12 from the free throw line, and Rafer Alston had 15 points in the losing effort.

Toronto led 21-20 after the first quarter, but quickly saw its advantage vanish in the early moments of the second.

Luol Deng ignited a 19-0 run by the Bulls to start the second frame. Jannero Pargo netted six points in the burst, including the final bucket to make it 39-21 at the 7:20 mark.

The Raptors were able to trim it to 11 two minutes later when Matt Bonner’s trey made it 43-32. Chicago didn’t falter though, and capped the first half on a three-pointer by Deng to grab 60-41 advantage at intermission.

Toronto never really threatened in the third quarter, as the Bulls extended their lead to 82-62 heading into the final stanza.

The Raptors opened the fourth on an 11-4 run to get within 13 points. Chris Bosh netted four points in the surge, while Rose knocked down a three-pointer.

Alston got the Raptors to within 88-80 on his jumper at 6:10, but the Bulls were able to stay comfortably ahead for the remainder of the game.

Chicago’s Kirk Hinrich sat out with a strained left hamstring. The Bulls’ eight-game winning streak over Toronto is their longest against any team...Toronto’s Donyell Marshall did not return for the fourth quarter and is listed as day-to-day with a lower back strain...Chicago shot 83 percent from the floor in the second quarter.
