NBA Game Summary - New York at Toronto

Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - Jalen Rose came off the bench to drop in a season-high 31 points and dish out six assists as Toronto trounced New York, 129-103, at Air Canada Centre.

The 129 points was a franchise record for the Raptors.

"Yeah, I can play a little bit," Rose said. "Somebody put a memo on my locker, saying I’ll be 33 this month, so i figure I had to step my game up."

Morris Peterson added a season-high 28 points for the Raptors, who won for the second consecutive time. Chris Bosh chipped in with 23 points and six rebounds while Jose Calderon, filling in for an injured Mike James, had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.

"We had defense. We outrebounded them. We had more assists than they did and we shot a better field goal percentage," said Bosh. "I would have to say this is probably our most complete game. One of our main focal points of the game was to keep them off the boards and collectively as a team we did a very good job of rebounding."

Eddy Curry led the Knicks, who lost for the first time in 2006, with 20 points and six boards. Stephon Marbury added 18 points and 13 assists while rookie David Lee had 15 points and 12 boards.

"They scored 30 points every quarter. They executed great," said Knicks coach Larry Brown. "They made shots and we had a hard time guarding them all night. They played great, Calderon was great, he got everyone involved. We were stuck behind all night."

Toronto was scintillating on the offensive end, shooting a gaudy 59 percent for the game. The unselfish Raptors dished out 29 assists while committing just 11 turnovers.

Toronto reached the century mark on a Bosh throwdown with 10:38 remaining.

They then took their largest lead, 118-88, on a Charlie Villanueva jumper with just under six minutes left.

The Raptors then coasted the rest of the way for an easy victory.

Toronto closed the first quarter on a 21-11 run to lead 35-26 and take control of the game.

The Raptors extended the gap to 13, 66-53, at intermission. Rose shot 6-for-8 from the floor and was a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe to pace Toronto with 21 points. Curry had 20 for the Knicks.
